Kucwiny is a collection of villages in northeast Uganda.

Community members in Kucwiny face severe water shortages, relying on unsafe and distant sources that contribute to poor health

Residents depend on Azambala Stream - approximately 1.5 km away - which is seasonal and shared with animals. During dry seasons, they walk long distances to alternative water sources. As a result, typhoid, intestinal worms, and skin infections are common.

With the generosity of the AWWOA community in 2025, our goal is to extend the existing solar-powered borehole distribution system an additional 12.6 km to reach even more people.

Here’s what we can do together:

  • Extend this distribution system 12.6 km to reach the communities of Aboradi, Ndima Upper, Ndima, Ndima West, Ndima Lower, Lura, Lee Centre, Lee Village, Kulukwach, Mbaro Lee, Oryeju Upper, and Oryeju Lower and Lee Primary School.

  • Reach 770 more households across 12 villages with clean, safe water.

  • Host our WASH (water, sanitation and hygiene) trainings in all these new communities to equip people with the knowledge and skills they need to make positive, lasting changes.

MATCH: Every dollar the AWWOA community gives will be matched instantly by the WaterSchool Board of Directors to a maximum of $30,000.
